Outside UTK:

2022:

Drs. Keerthi Krishnan, Billy Lau, and graduate students Mike Mykins, Logan Dunn and Jacob Elrod participated in the first in-person conference in two years – the ASCEND Rett Syndrome National Summit in Nashville, TN, April 27-30. Dr. Krishnan was invited to present in the session titled “The Power of the Brain: Regression and Beyond (What’s possible for my child)”. Dr. Billy Lau and Jacob Elrod presented a poster on “Erasing extracellular matrix barriers to rescue syndromic phenotypes in female mouse model for Rett syndrome”. Mr. Logan Dunn presented a poster on “MECP2 expression is regulated in an age and experience-dependent manner in a female mouse model for Rett syndrome”. Mr Mike Mykins presented a poster on “Age dependent tactile sensory deficits in a female mouse model for Rett syndrome”.

2021:

Drs. Keerthi Krishnan, Billy Lau, and graduate student Mike Mykins will be participating in Society of Behavioral Neuroendocrinology Online Conference during the week of 06/28/21.

April 2021: Dr. Krishnan shared the lab’s recent results at University of California, Davis, Department of Psychology Brown Bag series. She was invited by Dr. Brian Trainor.

2020:

Our much-anticipated Federation of European Neuroscience Societies conference in Glasgow, Scotland and Society for Behavioral Neuroendocrinology meeting in Atlanta, Georgia attendance was cancelled due to COVID19. Graduate students Ms. Dana Layo and Mr. Mike Mykins, and Dr. Krishnan were able to present their work at the NeuroMatch Conference 3.0 in October 2020.

November 2019 – Emory University Talk

Dr. Krishnan shared the lab’s work at Emory University Department of Biology Seminar series. She was invited by Dr. Robert Liu.

October 2019 – Society for Neuroscience Annual Conference Invited Talk:

Dr. Krishnan presented a talk at the Rett Syndrome Nanosymposium at the Society for Neuroscience in Chicago, IL.

06/20/19

We traveled to Bloomington, IN for the Society for Behavioral Endocrinology meeting. Dr. Krishnan gave a symposium talk on perineuronal nets, while Dr. Billy Lau and Ms. Dana Layo had poster presentations. It was a wonderful and stimulating meeting!

July 2018: SBN/ICN Poster presentation

Dr. Krishnan went to Toronto to represent the lab with all new data collected at the UTK Lab.

11/15/19, NeuroNET Retreat

Dana Layo, Parker Stevenson, James Buchanan and Shahin Ahmadi presented data from 4 different projects at the annual NeuroNET retreat. They did a great job with 2-minute platform presentations and poster sessions afterward! So proud of all the trainees!!

We had our first lab retreat to start the semester off to a good start. We discussed project updates, organization, communication & expectations. Later in the afternoon, we were off to a pool party.

Our lab participated in the NeuroNET retreat in the beautiful Mossman Building at UTK. Dana Layo and James Buchanan gave 3-minute platform presentations and discussed their work in posters.

Other students (Raymond Senu, Brett Emery, Sarah-Anne Bowyer, Radha Awasthi, Kristopher Reynolds, Matthew Everett) along with Dr. Billy Lau engaged in asking questions and learning about neuroscience research being conducted at UTK and associated institutions.
