Teaching and Mentoring:

BCMB 420 – Special Topics in Mammalian Neurodevelopment, Spring 2018, 2019, 3 credit hours

This new lecture/discussion course introduces the concepts and methods used to study early embryonic and postnatal development in human and mouse brains.We will read and discuss primary research articles on the subject, compare and contrast traditional and novel techniques used in the field, and touch on known causes of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Undergraduate and graduate students, from different disciplines and levels, interested in learning more about neurobiology are encouraged to contact Dr. Krishnan to determine prerequisites and faculty permission to take the course.

BCMB 452: Independent research, 2 or 3 credit hours, Fall or Spring

This hands-on research course introduces the concepts and methods used to study mouse brain plasticity in the Krishnan Lab. Specifically, you will learn about structures called perineuronal nets, how we identify them, and contribute extensively to microscopy image quantification.

Freshman and Sophomore are particularly encouraged to contact Dr. Krishnan for space availability, at least 3 months ahead of time.
